Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry
Good Tuesday, have a biscuit!
What an excellently well-behaved Tuesday yesterday was. Quite apart from being sufficiently up together on many necessary tasks to be able to indulge in project work, I then managed to attack multiple projects successfully - craftwork, gardening, and then a recording session in the evening.

We've got the setup and teardown streamlined now, and in appears that around an hour of actual recording is optimal, after which I get too tired to do well, and besides, there's all the aftermath to deal with. So, last night we laid down:

A scratch track of 'Ancient Sky'. Just because.
A scratch track of 'My Gold and Silver', which is a bit of a foundling song but I'd promised a friend.
A scratch track of a parody that I couldn't help writing on the weekend, but I'm not telling you the title as it'll give the game away. Sorry, Suzanne.
A scratch track of 'Time and Tide' which I hope to perform sometime if only for the social experiment element of it... again, a foundling, and so far unheard.
A guitar part for 'Any Kind of Light' so that we can put down vocals for the duet next time.

That was plenty...

My task for teh next week involves recreating, reviving and rearranging three other songs that are far from 'under my fingers', so to speak. Only one's a true foundling, though, ie, one I've never performed anywhere and therefore unheard except by thois esharing living space with me when I've been wrestling with it.

* * *

During 'Time and Tide', which of course S my faithful engineer hadn't heard, he asked me about the dynamic of the song.

"There are some loud bits," I admitted.

"OK, where?"

"Um... in between the quiet bits?"

"Right.... thanks..."

Alright, so I'm shallow. S pointed me yesterday at a link to a page of Wikipedia that mentions me. Under 'selkie', and in company of many illustrious friends. Of course I was pleased, I jumped up and down like a loon.

Do loons jump?

We shall be shallow together!

And, you're welcome - thank you for the storage! (I'm guessing you'll like PV & BE.)

Always glad to provide storage! *hug* (and like them all, too!)
Am glad to hear AS, 12GH, IS & BL again, still like the juxtaposition of settings in C, DS - mean, but works! Lovely historic view in L! I like MG&S, T&T (love the once/twice), but yes, BE... yes! And PV... tears-in-eyes-oooh... *hugstight*
And the other one... fun!! *chuckles mightily* :)

Ah you. :) *bhigghugs*

What sorts of craftwork do you do?

There's a question... anything I can get my mitts on! I was always keen on crochet and embroidery. A couple of years ago I learned to spin, and also took up knitting... which I haven't really managed to put down again. I like handsewing (garb for mediaeval reenactment sits half-done in the pile; I'm not good at dressmaking, but give me things to handsew and I'm happy), I enjoy patchwork English style, over papers. I occasionally lucet, I do four, five or six-in-hand braiding. I think that's mostly it. I have a set of knitting looms waiting for me to try them, and lately I've been finishing some projects my late mum-in-law left - she did everything.

One day I'll try lacemaking, because she did, and I've her lace things; I've dabbled in felting, I want to make a rag rug... stop me there, please!

How about you?

Not in my observation - but they dive and surface so rapidly I guess you could think of it as jumping underwater....

They surely do! At least in my part of the world, okay in my house they do!
